My Spider-Verse Review

Description

I completed my Spider-verse storyline collection yesterday so I guess I should give a short review...
First off, I Loved it! Main storyline was good but the smaller stories within were fantastic and even launched (Purely through Fan support) a new Spider-Gwen comic series.
Now I will admit that I am no expert in Spider-man comics, I've jumped in and out various Spider-comic series over the years but the only "Event" story lines I have (physically) collected are the Miles Morales ones and long before that I raided every comic store in the land for the Maximum Carnage series.
So Yeah, I started collecting this series because I am a huge Miles Morales fan and even kept an up-to-date checklist on my Ultimate Miles Morales group for other Miles fans. I enjoyed Miles's interactions throughout the story, he spent nearly all of his time with the animated Ultimate Peter Parker. Which was actually a great pairing, they had great banter and some great moments, for example the Spider-verse Team-up #2 story made me laugh, hard. This storyline has no effect on Miles's own Comic series (thus far). This was defiantly a (616) Parker story, which is the only way you could have done it but as a Miles fan you just cant have enough Miles per hour ;-) ....pun doesn't make sense there but I'm keeping it in.

Ok now get ready for some slight Spoilers if you haven't read the comics.
THE BEGINING.
The Inheritors; a family of Spider-sucking Vampires have been jumping throughout the multi-verse hunting Spider-Totems (Individuals with Spider-powers) for  their power and to stop a prophesy that will mean the end of the Inheritors.
Off the bat its complete Spider massacre and its actually Superior Spider-man that realises what is happening and starts uniting the multi-verse spider-men. The Inheritors are a very intimidating group of villains for the Spider-men and have got the greatest Spider-kill-count of any spider-man villain Ever! Some of the family get some decent character development but I really wanted more from the family and in particular: Morlun.
THE MIDDLE.
The Inheritor Morlun has had previous run-ins with 616 Peter Parker and has a fear of confronting him again. Unfortunately this doesn't get a satisfying resolution by the end of the series.
Loads of New Spiders are introduced, my favourite being Spider-UK as I live in the UK and I am a patriot.
More Spiders die, biggest shock for me was the death of Ben Reilly, the clone of 616 Peter Parker, he was a big player in past comics and had a interesting relationship with Parker and other spiders. This makes Kaine Parker transform into a monster spider and attack the inheritors, Kicking some Ass but "dying" in the process.
THE END.
I felt that the final battle in Amazing Spider-man #14 was very rushed. There had been various short stories wherein the Spiders had spent issues just chipping away at the Inheritors with little success and many of the Spiders loosing there lives quite quickly facing just one Inheritor at a time. The final battle is basically a brawl and as far as I can tell; no Spiders died in the battle even though they were going against the entire family. Maybe I watch too much Game of Thrones but I wanted some more heroic deaths from some of the B listers.
We end with the Inheritor family being locked away in a radiated wasteland and the remaining Spiders go back to their own universes. Spider-UK finds out that his universe has GONE, eluding to the upcoming Secret Wars comic series. Spider-UK will be a main player in the story arc Secret Wars: Spider-verse.
Oh... and Kaine Lives!!!

The Art throughout is great, good to see and mix of artists styles from story to story. I loved the smaller stories and the great spider cameos, especially nice to read that the two movie spider-men Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield got a shout out.
For Spider-man Fans this series is a Must. The different Spider-verse characters and their possible back stories is enough to keep fan-fiction writers and Artists busy for years!
